Israel Education at Camp (IE@C) Conference

Past Advocacy Programs From March 11-12, 2003 the Foundation for Jewish Camp convened the Israel Education at Camp (IE@C) Conference. IE@C was a two-day conference that explored how to maximize the effectiveness of Israel education in the overnight camp setting. The conference was designed for camp directors and senior camp program staff, including assistant directors, educational directors, program directors and unit heads.

Due to the ongoing crisis in Israel, it was particularly important to find every means to help the Jewish community's young people build continued connections to the land, people and state of Israel. As research states, camp is a particularly powerful venue to provide these important educational opportunities. IE@C challenged participants to re-evaluate their existing Israel programs and raise the bar in terms of content and delivery.

While at IE@C, participants worked with outstanding informal Israel educators from across the globe. These educators provided exemplary models of Israel programming and challenged camp professionals to explore their own, and their camp's relationship with Israel. Participants had opportunities to share best practices and brainstorm together on how to maximize the opportunities of Israel education in the summer camp setting.
